Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground) - The Jacksons (1979)

"Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" es una de las canciones más emblemáticas de The Jacksons, grabada en 1978 y lanzada como sencillo a principios de 1979. Fue una pieza clave para el grupo, ya que marcó su regreso al éxito masivo tras su salida de Motown. Se incluyó originalmente en el álbum Destiny (1978), el cual fue el primero en el que los hermanos tuvieron control creativo total. Fue escrita y compuesta por Michael Jackson y su hermano menor, Randy Jackson. Originalmente el demo se titulaba "Shake a Body". Fue producida por los propios hermanos Jackson para Epic Records. Alcanzó el puesto #7 en el Billboard Hot 100 en mayo de 1979 y llegó al #3 en las listas de R&B. En el Reino Unido logró el puesto #4. El sencillo vendió más de dos millones de copias en Estados Unidos, obteniendo la certificación de doble platino de la RIAA. Se dice que el estribillo fue inspirado por una improvisación de Marvin Gaye en "Got to Give It Up". Mientras que la versión de radio duraba unos 3:45 minutos, la versión del álbum se extiende a casi 8 minutos, convirtiéndose en un himno de las discotecas.  Fue la última canción que los hermanos Jackson interpretaron juntos en vivo durante el especial del 30º aniversario de Michael en el Madison Square Garden en 2001. Ha sido sampleada por diversos artistas, incluyendo a Shaggy en su éxito de 2000 "Dance & Shout".
