Jimmy Ienner produjo la canción; Fue arreglada por Tony Camillo. Fue el cuarto y último sencillo del grupo en llegar al Top 10 y su último éxito en el Top 40 en los EE. UU.
"Bad Time" marcó el final de los dos años del grupo como Grand Funk, tiempo durante el cual anotaron todos sus grandes éxitos. Después de este lanzamiento, su nombre volvió a Grand Funk Railroad.
